Chris Potter Trio ft. Craig Taborn & Eric Harland

heavyweights of American jazz

American Chris Potter is widely regarded as one of the most influential saxophonists of his generation. He has played with greats such as Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland and John Scofield. But with his own groups too he has appeared at just about every major jazz festival. The New Yorker compared him to Joe Henderson and praised his formidable technique, which always serves the music and not the spectacle.

At the Singer, Chris Potter comes with a super trio featuring two other heavyweights of American jazz; pianist Craig Taborn and drummer Eric Harland.

Craig Taborn is hailed as a ‘visionary of the current jazz generation’ (Downbeat) for his intriguing, concentrated playing. Knack describes him as ‘one of the most exciting pianists of the moment’. Taborn made his name as a sideman in groups of, among others, Dave Holland and Roscoe Mitchell. As a leader he released a number of albums on the ECM label.

Eric Harland is one of the most in-demand drummers in American jazz. He plays on more than five hundred albums by greats such as Betty Carter, Joe Henderson and McCoy Tyner. In 2016 none other than President Barack Obama invited him to a state dinner at the White House in honour of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
